President Donald Trump told reporters at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., that he wants his own companies rather than a Chinese-owned one.
Trump said his goal is to have his company in Florida by the end of his presidency, but he is not sure if he can do that.
He is in talks with Chinese partners about building a Florida plant.
He also said he does not have any plans to sell any of his properties.
The Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In the meantime, he has told people who have been interested in his properties that he has nothing to sell.
Trump said the plan is to stay in Palm Springs for as long as he can, but will likely retire there in about 2023.
Trump told reporters he was “not thinking about anything right now” and that he “will make a decision about it in about a month or two.”
